DESCRIPTION
Rewind is a single-player 3D platformer that confines the player within an ever-changing environment. The space around the player is influenced by their movement, forcing them to understand their surroundings to progress.
The player finds themselves tossed in a time loop inside of a strange megastructure and after failing to reach the exit at the start of the game. After falling to the bottom of the structure, they must find a way back to the beginning as the environment collapses and changes around them.
ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN GOALS
IMPOSSIBLE ARCHITECTURE
Inspired by M.C. Escher, Rewind's architecture is built from primitive shapes to make up the interior structure. This structure provides confusion and intrigue to the player upon entering.
DISTINCT PATHING
As a result of primitive shapes being used as the base for architecture, the placement of each shape must be utilized to create clear pathing. The shapes are placed deliberately upon player testing and human instinct.
TIME INFLUENCE
Hints of time related props are used within Rewind to convey urgency to the player. Although there is no distinct feature of time being relevant to the player's gameplay, the sense of urgency is important to keep the player moving till the end.
