Welcome Home was created as a performance piece to showcase the feeling of comfort that self-destructive tendencies can begin to invoke.

This performance evokes the overwhelming fear of judgment. Self-destructive actions if repeated over time can become comforting and normal to one who continuously partakes in them. This feeling can be compared to the same feeling of home. Although this feeling of comfort can be presented in one’s psyche, there is a societal standard of not discussing such actions. This leads those who participate in these actions to create a barrier between their presentative self and what goes on beyond it. In this performance piece, the barrier is slowly opened revealing the self-destruction within the structure but is quickly shut once again and quickly pushed away. Although one can get comfortable enough to showcase these self-destructive tendencies, it is often difficult to fully showcase every part of them.
